Following confirmation that there will be an extension to the grace period for veterinary medicines until 31 December 2025, Stuart Anderson, Head of Public Affairs at Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber) commented:
“In unison with colleagues from a number of businesses organisations, an extension is something that we have been pressing the European Commission for, so we certainly welcome the three-year arrangement.
“It will provide relief to our members in agri-food, enabling businesses in the supply-chain to uphold the highest standards of food safety and animal welfare in Northern Ireland.
“While the extension is welcome, it remains critically important that Northern Ireland’s supply of veterinary medicines is protected in the long-term beyond 2025. This will require ongoing monitoring and engagement with all relevant stakeholders during the extensive interim period.
