Lavish Treats is a new healthy nutritional snack business launched in April 2021 by Aisling Laverty. Main products are protein balls, energy bites and healthy traybakes made to order. These are healthy alternative treats that are designed using natural, wholesome ingredients with no refined sugar. An example of one of the popular products is a caramel tray bake made with a base of ground almonds, a caramel filling made with date paste, topped with organic dark chocolate. There are also a variety of vegan treats available and gluten free treats.

Aisling contacted Brenda Kelleghan at Southern Regional College, one of the Food Innovation & Technology Specialists seeking help to get her products ‘retail ready’. Through the funded InnovateUs programme Brenda worked with Aisling in fine tuning recipes, carried out extensive nutritional profiling and tweaking of recipes to hit nutritional targets. Back of pack labelling training along with ingredient and allergen lists were also compiled to ensure products were suitable for online selling with potential of launching into retail.

Upon completion of the project Lavish Treats has a range of up to 15 healthy treats for launch that include healthy protein balls such as raspberry and vanilla, espresso and almond and healthy tray bakes.

The InnovateUs programme is funded by the Department for the Economy and provides up to 60 hours of funded mentoring for an innovative activity.
