The role of Consumers – with guest speakers DfE and the Utility Regulator
Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber) and SONI invite you to the next Energy Forum event, taking place online on 25 November 2020 from 9.30-10.45am.
The Department for the Economy has concluded its Call for Evidence into the future direction of energy policy and is now focusing on 5 key themes – Consumers, Energy Efficiency, Heat, Power and Transport.
In this Energy Forum we will be focusing on the role of Consumers, particularly business consumers – asking how can businesses decarbonise to play their part in wider emissions reductions? What opportunities are there as the green economy evolves in Northern Ireland and how can business users become prosumers? Just how real is a decentralised future where NI Chamber members could produce and sell clean energy as a second income stream? How can policy help this diversification?
We’re delighted to be joined by Thomas Byrne Director of Energy Strategy at the Department for the Economy who is leading on the development of the new energy policy; Thomas is keen to engage with members to ensure the needs of the business consumer are understood and fully considered.
Consumers are central to the development of the new strategy and we are therefore pleased that Kevin Shiels, Director of Retail and Consumer Protection at the Utility Regulator, will also be sharing his insights.
The event will be hosted by energy commentator Jamie Delargy and will involve interactive polling during the morning.
This is a bespoke event, focused on the future energy needs of business consumers and offers a unique opportunity to help shape policy at an early stage.
