Northern Ireland is currently experiencing an acute shortage of skilled workers. With 8 in 10 NI Chamber members currently finding it hard to fill vacancies, addressing the skills shortage must be a key focus for the business community and the NI Executive.
As the Department for the Economy commences work on a new skills strategy, NI Chamber would like to ensure that the voice of its Members are at the centre of this process. To do this NI Chamber have launched a Future of Skills campaign. This campaign will engage with businesses through online roundtables to inform the strategy on areas such as best practice, i.e. what NI businesses are already doing well to tackle the Skills shortage; where the main challenges lie for businesses across the region, what more can be done and what we need from Government.
The first event will host Seagate Technology, a global leader in data storage solutions, who will share their story in how they have tackled the skills gap in Northern Ireland to position themselves as a market leader in their industry.
The roundtable event will provide the opportunity to hear from Seagate Technology on best practice to tackles skills shortages, learn and connect with other businesses experiencing similar challenges and provide the opportunity to inform the Department of the Economy skills strategy.
