The Role of the Power Sector…
The NI Chamber and SONI Energy Forum is an opportunity for you to hear directly from those responsible for shaping Northern Ireland’s future energy strategy.
The Department for the Economy has concluded its Call for Evidence into the future direction of energy policy and is now focusing on 5 key themes – Consumers, Energy Efficiency, Heat, Power and Transport.
Join NI Chamber Chief Executive Ann McGregor for the latest Energy Forum where we will be focusing on the role of the Power Sector – what does a low carbon energy future look like and how do we get there? What will it mean for consumers and business? What will it do for Northern Ireland’s contribution to Net Zero by 2050?
These questions and more will be answered by Thomas Byrne, Director of Energy Strategy at the Department for the Economy, who will also provide an update on the development of the strategy. We will also share insights from Dr Patrick Keatley of Ulster University who will focus on the role and opportunities for business in Demand Side Flexibility and Smart Metres.
Also joining are David McGowan, Senior Lead Engineer; Energy System Analysis at SONI and Randal Gilbert, Head of Network Strategy at NIE Networks. SONI and NIE Networks have formed a Joint Working Group to ensure a co-ordinated response to the energy strategy and we look forward to an update from them in relation to the electricity system and the challenges and benefits which any new policy could bring.
For members interested in the power system, decarbonisation, climate change and Northern Ireland’s energy future, this forum is a must…
