Sinéad Patton, Chief Financial and Commercial Officer for Veolia Ireland and Regional Director for Northern Ireland, was recently named the Social and Equality Business Leader at the PwC Business Post Sustainable Business Awards.

On 21 March, the third annual edition of the PwC Business Post Sustainable Business Awards was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin. With over 350 attendees, the night celebrated the achievements of the best performing Irish businesses across various environmental, social and governance (ESG) categories.

There was a record number of more than 150 submissions from 100 businesses active in Ireland. This was whittled down to 13 winners, selected from a shortlist of 66 entries. Among the winners was Sinéad Patton – a champion of diversity who passionately believes that diversity is a critical component in the success and sustainability of a business and society.

Sinéad is co-chair of the Business in the Community Ireland Leaders Sub-Group on Social Inclusion; a group seeking necessary change in businesses to create a culture where everyone feels welcome, has access to opportunities and is supported to thrive.

In early 2019, the group led the development and launch of the Inclusive Employer Blueprint, a practical guide to creating inclusive workplaces and reducing social inequality in Ireland, and has since developed and launched Elevate: the Inclusive Workplace Pledge, a new pledge to support businesses to build more inclusive workplaces, so that all members of Irish society are represented.
