UK law firm TLT has appointed Agnes Altmets, one of edie’s ‘30 under 30’ next generation of sustainability leaders (2019), as a senior sustainability manager to support its ambitious plans to become a net zero organisation.
Agnes was previously sustainability manager at TLT and has held sustainability roles in organisations including the GC Business Growth Hub, Auto Trader UK and Tallinn University. She is also a founding member of the Warrior Women Network, a support network for women improving the lives of others and saving the planet.
The appointment reflects TLT’s increasingly busy programme of sustainability-related activities across the UK, and its commitment to being at the forefront of sustainability in the legal services industry.
In line with the Science Based Target initiative’s new Net-Zero Standard, which was launched on 28 October 2021, TLT has set the ambitious target of becoming carbon neutral by 2025 and is working with Carbon Intelligence on its net zero roadmap. This will help to identify key areas of focus and what actions are needed to reach critical milestones – including setting science-based targets – and give TLT a solid framework to support monitoring and reporting.
TLT has invested heavily in its sustainability programme in recent years. In addition to appointing a dedicated in-house team responsible for delivering the firm’s sustainability strategy, sustainability is a key part of the firm’s growth strategy and in 2021, it announced a multi-million pound investment programme to deliver a digital and physical workplace to support choice, inclusion and sustainability.
In 2022, TLT’s Glasgow office will move to Cadworks, one of the most sustainable offices in the country and a concept office for new ways of working at TLT.

We have already made significant strides towards achieving our objectives, but there’s a long way to go, and we are looking forward to completing our current work with Carbon Intelligence this year. This will really help to clarify our net zero journey and enable us to focus on the biggest opportunities to deliver change at pace.”

TLT works with various third parties on joint sustainability programmes, including Forest Green Rovers (the world’s greenest football club), The Chancery Lane Project (net zero drafting), Action Net Zero (delivering sustainability in communities), and as a member/signatory of the Legal Sustainability Alliance, The Legal Renewables Initiative, the Greener Litigation Pledge and Aldersgate Group.
