The latest episode of The Fifth Quarter podcast from Lanyon Group has just landed.
Hosted by Senior Client Director David Elliott, it is brought to you once again with the support of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s Food Heartland.
This time, we’re checking in on one of the most established suppliers to the bakery industry in Northern Ireland as well as an organisation which ensures a steady pipeline of talent to the agri-food sector while also helping businesses here innovate.
We hear from John Graham, Managing Director of Andrew Ingredients, the Belfast supplier of ingredients to the bakery trade. The stalwart business has been in operation since 1945 and remains in the Andrew family which has witnessed the evolution of baking here in Northern Ireland over the years.
John talks through how Andrew Ingredients has adapted to an ever-changing market place over the years and how the company has broadened its range to keep up with consumer demand.
We also speak to Peter Simpson from the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise, or CAFRE, who explains how he and his team work with companies large and small on process and product development, ensuring they’re able to compete on a local and global basis.
And of course CAFRE is also responsible for producing the next generation of talent for the agri-food sector, a hugely important role for the future of the industry, while also keeping the current workforce trained in the latest processes and technology.
All this and more in the latest episode of The Fifth Quarter podcast.
