Just in time for pupils returning to class, Phoenix Natural Gas has launched its updated ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ construction site awareness programme, with a new online resource now available for primary schools across its licence area.

The ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ schools programme aims to help local school children understand the hazards of playing on or near construction sites and has been well received by local primary schools as Phoenix Natural Gas continues to extend the natural gas pipeline and bring the benefits of natural gas to even more consumers in its licence area.

Adapted to meet the needs of schools during the pandemic, the free online resource is supported by activity sheets ensuring children have a handy reminder of the ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ safety code.

Launching the new resource, Adrian McNeilly, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager at Phoenix Natural Gas said, “As a construction company, safety is our number one priority and our ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ programme and safety code has been designed to help educate primary school children about natural gas and keeping safe in areas where we are working, which are often residential streets.

“Construction sites are hazardous places, particularly for children, who may not be aware of the threats they pose. Our online session and activity sheets are designed to be fun, interactive and engaging, whilst delivering an important message to help protect children in our local communities.”

Phoenix Natural Gas are offering a free ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ goodie bag for the first 500 pupils who register for the workshop in the current school term.
