SERC’s part-time courses are here to help you transform your future by strengthening your skills and improving your CV, delivering learning in a flexible format that fits around your life.
Ken Webb, Principal and Chief Executive of SERC said, “Every year, we hear amazing real-life stories from our students on how their return to education has transformed their lives. The first step is realising that you can do whatever you put your mind to, and we will give you all the support you need here at SERC to achieve your aim.”
Joan Cochrane from Bangor took the opportunity to enrol in a part-time beginner’s Italian course. She has since achieved a GCSE and is about to start the final year of an OCN Level 4 award in Italian.
Joan says, “On my first trip to Italy I was very frustrated that I couldn’t communicate or even correctly pronounce place names in Tuscany. It was the pure frustration that spurred me to enrol in the beginners Italian at SERC and I have been there ever since.”
“It’s not like learning a language at school – there is no pressure, and the lecturer is brilliant at getting you involved in the class, sometimes without you even realising. The classes are good fun, and I’d certainly encourage anyone thinking about taking up a language to give it a go at SERC.”
Stephanie Oates (pictured above) from Portavogie found that a part time course at SERC was beneficial to her career. Stephanie studied the European Computer Driving License at SERC and says:
“I work for the South Eastern Trust and have been there for 10 years. I really enjoyed the course and successful completion has helped me recently secure a new post at a higher band, so it has worked out perfectly for me. I would definitely recommend coming back to SERC to upskill.”
