RenewableNI currently has a vacancy for a Policy Analyst.

Hours: Full-time, permanent
Location: Working from home, with visits to Belfast office and meetings.

RenewableNI (RNI) is the voice for the renewable electricity industry. Through the development of policy, best practice and public communications, we represent those engaged in wind, solar, tidal and battery storage development. Our members make up a large majority of the renewable industry supply chain in Northern Ireland. As part of both RenewableUK and Wind Energy Ireland, we have a reach across these islands.

Our aim is to achieve zero carbon electricity by 2035 helping to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change, increasing energy security and reducing costs for consumers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• · Deliver on the key strategic objectives of RNI through interactions with members and with energy industry stakeholders;
• · Provide support to the RNI team to support the delivery of renewable energy, including through the co-ordination of committee meetings and working groups;
• · Stay up to date on energy policy developments across these islands, and help the team to deliver key objectives;
• · Prepare written and verbal reports for internal and external audiences on relevant policy matters and assist in drafting consultation responses and position papers;
• · Create, maintain, and extend over time a strong network of contacts across the sector;
• · Provide support to the Director as needed, including public affairs work.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

• · Enthusiastic and high calibre candidate with a minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in a policy and/or public affairs role;
• · Experience in using MS Office packages, particularly, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
• · Ability to work on own initiative and make sound judgements;
• · Professional attitude and ability to be politically sensitive;
• · Able to be flexible about working hours including out of hours where necessary;
• · Must have right to work in the UK.

Desirable Criteria

• · Relevant third level qualification;
• · Experience in the energy industry;
• · Understanding of the Single Electricity Market;
• · Understanding of the Northern Ireland planning system.
