From posting brochures through letterboxes at age 9 to becoming a sales and lettings negotiator, Camy Chandler was always following the path to join the family business.
Coming to South Eastern Regional College (SERC) to study the Level 3 Award in Residential Letting And Property Management Northern Ireland provided Camy (19 from Holywood) with the perfect opportunity to continue her education in a subject that expanded her knowledge of her professional field.
Camy’s family own and run “Michael Chandler Estate Agents” a company that also offer insurance and mortgage services. She has been involved in the company from a young age and spoke about her involvement “I started at the age of 9, posting brochures through doors, then moving on to actually making the brochures that go through the doors. During the COVID-19 pandemic I had to step up and become a sales and lettings negotiator, which has been such a joy with the supportive team that I’m around.”
Speaking about her time at SERC Camy said “One of the best parts of the course was that it was part time, meaning I only needed to attend one day a week, allowing me to work the rest of the time. I found the law side of things very interesting and seeing how much it has changed over the years.
“The course has given me a wider understand of everything in regards to the surveying, conveyancing and the law, this has already come in handy in my day to day tasks at work. Overall, I would describe my experience as effective, interesting, challenging and overall worthwhile.”
She added “My lecturer Janice Simpson never gave up on me, she pushed me and helped me complete all my exams and celebrated as much as I did when I passed my final exam. She helped me out of normal working hours, went over things I struggled with and overall is a brilliant lecturer.”
Camy concluded by talking about her future, “I will be working at Michael Chandler Estate Agents for the foreseeable future. My career goal is to get myself into the high end of residential selling and develop my social media marketing for the company.”
