Friday evening saw the return of the prestigious Grocers’ Ball, an annual event organised by industry charity GroceryAid (Northern Ireland committee) to raise funds for people working across the grocery sector.

Sponsored by wine brands Mionetto Prosecco, Mouton Cadet and DADÁ, available exclusively for the independent licensed trade at wholesale drinks distributor Drinks Inc., the event welcomed 350 people together to support the charity.

The ball also incorporated the esteemed Belfast Telegraph Grocer Marketing Awards which rewards and recognises the marketing achievements of businesses in Northern Ireland’s grocery sector across 10 categories, including Best Brand and Best Marketing Campaign.

The event aims to raise £35,000 for GroceryAid which provides financial, emotional, and practical help to anyone working in the grocery industry from factory floor to head office, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through its free and confidential helpline. Last year GroceryAid distributed over £100k worth of financial grants, it’s the first time the Northern Ireland figure has exceeded £100k, evidence of the need here locally.

Angus O’Neill, Chair of GroceryAid NI, said: “The Grocers’ Ball and Belfast Telegraph Grocer Marketing Awards was a fantastic event and I’d like to thank everyone who attended for their support. It was great to join acquaintances from across the sector and celebrate their achievements so congratulations to all the winners. I’d also thank to our sponsors for the evening, Mionetto Prosecco, Mouton Cadet and DADÁ.”
