NI SECRETARY OF STATE VISITS RATHBANE GROUP IN NEWRY

The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris MP has visited the Head Office of Rathbane Group in Newry. Mr Heaton-Harris, accompanied by Sinn Fein’s Mickey Brady, met with a group representing the companies within Rathbane Group, MJM Marine, Mivan Limited and Topglass. Representatives included Rathbane Group Chairman Brian McConville CBE; Group Director Conleth McConville; MJM Marine CEO Gary Annett; MJM Marine Head of Global Business Development, Fiona Nevin and Mivan Business Development Director, Dean Uprichard.

 

As part of his visit, the Secretary of State was taken on a tour of MJM Marine’s 100,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility which specialises in bespoke joinery, metalwork, carpet and upholstery for the cruise industry. Mr Heaton-Harris was interested in how MJM Marine, Mivan and Topglass have recovered from the pandemic to remain among some of the biggest global players in the construction industry.

 

Rathbane Group Director Conleth McConville said: “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to host Mr Heaton-Harris at Rathbane Group Head office in Newry. It is great to know we have the support of government after the last few challenging years as we continue to regrow the businesses. We were able to showcase the best of what Northern Ireland can offer in terms of local employment and global output in the marine and construction industries and also have the opportunity to discuss with him the challenges felt by many businesses here such as the skills and labour shortage, supply chain constraints and Brexit”.

MJM Group has recently rebranded to Rathbane Group which is made up of MJM Marine, Mivan Limited, Topglass and MJM Renewables as well as an extensive property portfolio.
