LIBERTY IT and National Museums NI have announced the launch of a new multi-year partnership to support STEAM learning for young people across the province.

The industry leader in digital innovation and the leading cultural institution are set to create a new immersive tech experience for secondary schools, as part of the Ulster Museum’s extensive education offering.

Emma Mullan, Senior Director of Talent from Liberty IT said: “We are delighted to join forces with National Museums NI, renowned for its award-winning education programmes, to create a brand-new technology focused workshop to empower and excite local school children, help develop their IT skills and inspire the future talent of our industry.

STEAM encourages students to think through a logical and analytical perspective and approach problems with creativity and innovation and we are committed to supporting the education of pupils in this area through the creation of a memorable learning experience. We hope this new partnership, which represents Liberty IT’s biggest investment in STEAM to date, will play a key role in the provision of tech learning for pupils, address the current lack of provision in this skillset and ultimately inspire young people to consider a career in tech.”

Kathryn Thomson, Chief Executive of National Museums NI said: “We are thrilled to be working with Liberty IT on this exciting STEAM-focused partnership. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our schools audience to learn from some of the world’s best tech talent in Liberty IT, and for our education team to find new ways for young people to engage with our collections. It represents a very important new strand in our extensive schools programme.

“I am confident that this innovative programme will provide young people with a unique, hands-on learning experience at the Ulster Museum. We look forward to launching the new programme in April and welcoming schools to the museum to enjoy it in the months ahead.”
