The leading supplier to the foodservice industry in Ireland is gearing up for its biggest presence at IFEX, as the exhibition returns for its 25th year.

Henderson Foodservice will serve up its usual great, quality food for visitors attending from the food, retail and hospitality industries, offering innovative solutions to aide post-pandemic recovery in the sector.

Cathal Geoghegan, Managing Director at Henderson Foodservice says the three days IFEX exhibition is very much welcomed in the industry, as customers, suppliers and producers can meet face to face for the first time since the bi-annual event last took place – 2018.

Cathal commented; “The hospitality, retail and food sectors have experienced some of the most challenging times in the past two years and they’re now looking for innovative solutions that will not only cater to food trends that have emerged from our changed way of living, but also the operational complexities that have resulted in the need for labour-saving and easy-finish options.”

With this in mind, Henderson Foodservice will be showcasing high convenience and quality products from suppliers including Kepak, Aryzta and Delifrance at IFEX 2022, alongside their locally sourced products from Punjana, Tayto and Rich Sauces.

The company has also set sustainability targets for the year, with aims to reduce food waste tonnage by 2% and introducing sustainable supply chain practices such as electric vehicles and charging points at headquarters, and they’re expanding their supplier portfolio to ensure those companies also working to the same ethos.

Cathal continued; “As one of the biggest employers in Northern Ireland, and operating across the island of Ireland, we are in a position to make positive and sustainable changes to the way we run our business. In turn, our customers have a savvy and demanding consumer base who are seeking more ethical produce and menu alternatives, while our suppliers are breaking through with products to match this demand, but also reviewing their production methods to align with more efficient expectations throughout the supply chain.”

Those suppliers who will be showcased at the Henderson Foodservice stand at IFEX include wholesale bakery Kara, who have committed to a thaw and serve approach to help customers cut waste; “health hackers” Miami Burger with their plant-based, 100% green ethos; Santa Maria will introduce their new ready-to-go protein boost Deli OatBites which are convenient, plant-based and high in nutrients; and drinks supplier Capitol – a coffee company whose beans are roasted in the world’s first roastery to achieve carbon neutral gold standard.

Cathal continued; “While the hospitality industry may have faced its challenges over the past couple of years, it is coming out fighting and working innovatively and collaboratively, creating products and operations that align with consumer demand and customer expectations. It is an incredibly exciting time to be part of this sector.”

Henderson Foodservice will have its largest presence so far at IFEX, with their 256 sq. m. space displaying new food trends for 2022, from street food to take-home dinner solutions, a networking area to showcase the company’s added value digital and training expertise, plus plenty of theatre with the demonstration kitchen showing what can be done with their fantastic produce.

IFEX takes place from Tuesday 29th to Thursday 31st March at Titanic Exhibition Centre, Belfast. More can be found at IFEXexhibition.co.uk.
