Leading telecoms and IT provider eir evo UK has invested more than £28 million as part of its plans to expand its high-speed high-capacity network across Northern Ireland, seamlessly connecting more than 24 towns and cities to a world class next-generation, enterprise-grade infrastructure.

Recently completing an additional investment of £10 million in building a new high-capacity Next Generation Network (NGN), eir evo is the only local company committed to delivering the region’s first and only all-island, next-generation communications and internet service provider (ISP) network that puts private and public sector needs first.

Based in Belfast, eir evo had already invested more than £18 million in ensuring that local organisations can access fast, reliable multi-gigabit-capable internet connectivity since it entered the market in 2007 and this latest expansion underlines its commitment to driving business connectivity, promoting innovation and supporting the local and regional digital economy.

Improving digital infrastructure and access for business and public sector organisations is vital for the future of the Northern Ireland economy.

Philip O’Meara, Regional Director at eir evo UK, said:

“In a fast-economy focused on growth and sustainability, businesses and public sector organisations need fast, reliable and high-capacity internet which unlocks connectivity, opportunity and growth and we’re proud to be spearheading a major transformational change programme by investing in an expanding world class network that promotes innovation and hyper-fast connectivity across every sector.”

eir evo’s most recent capacity upgrade means it can provide cost-effective dedicated internet connections that future-proof business needs now and long into the future – for example, businesses in towns and cities can currently, for the first time ever, avail of a reliable 10-gigabit high-capacity service for the equivalent price of 2 gigabits.

“The design and scale of our secure network means businesses can enjoy ultra-fast speeds to all their cloud-based applications, ensuring seamless day-to-day performance, greater productivity, optimum reliability and unbeatable workforce collaboration,” eir evo UK Sales & Marketing Director Matt McCloskey added.

Committed to supporting organisations through digital transformation, eir evo provides a suite of end-to-end solutions beyond network connectivity – designing, delivering and managing digital infrastructure solutions across networking, communications, cloud, cyber security, IT and workplace technologies.

Recognised by leading global technology brands for their customer-first commitment in designing and delivering solutions across the island of Ireland, eir evo currently holds the title of Microsoft Partner of the Year, HPE Partner of the Year and Cisco Partner of the Year amongst other prestigious partner accolades.

A preferred partner of many of Northern Ireland’s leading companies, eir evo is also spearheading digital transformational change across the public sector.

Earlier this year, it won a major contract to deliver high-capacity fibre network and managed services to 10 regional councils across Northern Ireland.

Representing an investment of up to £7 million over 10 years, the eir evo network solution will connect almost 600 council sites across NI with the required infrastructure to enable more efficient delivery of digital services, achieve productivity improvements for more than 8,500 employees and support the development of new technology initiatives from within the local councils.

In April, eir evo also secured a significant contract with Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council. Over the five-year deal, eir evo will provide cost efficiencies and agility for the authority, while modernising their legacy IT infrastructure to the benefit of businesses, residents and staff.

A total of seven transformative projects will be delivered by eir evo including Office 365 cloud migration, backup and disaster recovery capability, a superior new storage and record management solution, security and compliance implementation and fully managed services across the full product suite.

Committed to local growth, last year it signed a 15-year lease to take residency on the tenth floor of the newly redeveloped Grade A office development, The Vantage in Belfast city centre, where the company plans to further expand the team to support its growth and success in a next generation working environment.
