Multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, Cundall, has expanded its presence in Belfast with the appointment of Ruairí Dempsey as Associate Director in the region.
A chartered mechanical and electrical engineer with more than 17 years in the industry, Ruairí joins the well-established team in Belfast in a move that signals Cundall’s commitment to growing the local market with an experienced team leading on major local projects like the recently completed Ulster Hospital.
Specialising in sustainability, low carbon and low energy design, Ruairí has contributed to the successful delivery of projects in the UK, Ireland and the Middle East throughout his career. These include the famous Claridge’s Hotel and Sea Containers House in London, Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi, and the Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Center in Bahrain. Closer to home in Belfast, he is also proud to have contributed to the design of Titanic Belfast and Obel Tower, the tallest storeyed building in Ireland.
Ruairí takes on a technical role as an engineer, helping to lead and mentor the Belfast team and grow the business’s reputation in the region alongside Yvonne McNally.
Commenting on his new role, Ruairí said:
“We have a proud history of engineering excellence in Northern Ireland and I’m looking forward to continuing that tradition with the local team at Cundall. In my years as an engineer, I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to create through design and see my designs come to life in the buildings I have worked on. The opportunity to continue doing this alongside the team at Cundall is really exciting.”
Tomás Neeson, Global Managing Partner at Cundall commented:
“We are really excited to have Ruairí join the team in Belfast. His appointment is an important strategic decision for our business as we look to increase our abilities to service not only the Northern Ireland market, but to also export our engineering abilities across our global reach.
“Ruairí has a huge amount of experience working on projects in both Northern Ireland and abroad, and this greatly complements the skills of the already well-established team in Belfast.
“Cundall’s Belfast team is part of One Cundall and their skills add to our capabilities to deliver locally and across the globe, particularly in the fields of Healthcare, Technology, Sustainability and Net Zero design. We very much look forward to driving the agenda in these areas in the years ahead.”
Earlier this year Cundall’s Dublin office revealed a brand new, sustainable office in St. Stephen’s Green.
