Let’s Power Change Together – Climate Event

Let’s Power Change Together will bring the most prominent political leaders on the island of Ireland together to discuss efforts to tackle climate change.
First Minister, Paul Givan and deputy First Minister, Michelle O’Neill will be joined by An Taoiseach Micheál Martin to address an audience of business people ahead of COP26.
The event will also feature a panel of business leaders. The panel will discuss ‘green’ opportunities for business and what global agreement on climate action means for companies on the island of Ireland.

Stephen Wheeler – Stephen Wheeler is Country Lead for SSE in Ireland as well as Managing Director of SSE Thermal. Stephen was recently appointed as the new Managing Director of SSE Renewables across the UK and Ireland, and will take up the role from 1 January 2022. Before joining SSE, he spent over 10 years working with ABB and Siemens internationally. Stephen is a graduate of Electrical Engineering at University College Dublin, with an MBA from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, and a past Chairman of the Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA).
Sara Venning – Sara Venning graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a Master of Electrical and Electronic Engineering after which she joined NIE as Customer Operations Manager. In 2010 she joined NI Water as Director of Customer Service Delivery and has been CEO since 2014. She has a passion for excellence, driving change that is transforming NI Water to becoming world class. Sara is President of the UK water sector industry body – Institute of Water and is also President of the WaterAid NI Committee, part of the global WaterAid charity working to transform lives by improving access to clean water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities.
Fiacre O’Donnell – Fiacre joined Encirc 1998. Having held various roles including planning, sales & marketing and sustainability, he was appointed Director of Sustainability of Encirc’s Spanish based parent company, Vidrala in 2020. An alumini of the Timoney Institute, he is a member of the BITC NI environmental leadership team, and a member of the NI CoC Infrastructure committee.
Catherine Moroney – Catherine is Head of Business Banking Market at AIB Bank and current President of Dublin Chamber 2020 & 2021 as well as Chair of AIB Corporate Finance and is a member of the Advisory Board of the National Centre for Family Businesses at DCU, Dublin. Catherine has spent her career in financial services across Corporate & Business Banking, Treasury and Retail Banking, as well as leading teams in the development of Strategy, Products and large change programmes. Catherine was awarded the ‘International Financial Leader of the Decade’ award at the Women’s Economic Forum in India in May 2018 and awarded a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the WEF in 2020. In 2018, Catherine was awarded ‘Business Woman of the Year’ at the Irish National In-Business Recognition Awards in December 2018 and ‘Best Business Bank’ in 2019 & 2020. In 2017 she was awarded ‘Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Ireland’ award from the WXN (Women’s Executive Network). She is a graduate of UCD Business School (B Comm, Banking & Finance), and Cranfield (Leadership programme).
Broadcasting live from Belfast, this hybrid event will be hosted by renowned journalist Tommie Gorman. Business people from all sectors in Northern Ireland are invited to join online.
