Cyber-attackers recently shut off a US gas pipeline, they have threatened to publish lists of informants to US law enforcement. Closer to home, ransomware attacks are frequent and becoming more sophisticated in nature. Typically, a company’s systems are encrypted by ransomware and a ransom note left. Crucially, the encryption paralyses the business, whilst its systems are offline. The key issues the business faces are managing the business downtime, considering legal risks, including around personal data, considering whether to engage with the threat actor and trying to get the system back up and running safely.

Laura Gillespie (Pinsent Masons) and Simon Whittaker (Vertical Structure) will lead this event, discussing their first-hand experience of helping companies respond to ransomware events, and advise how you can be prepared.
