South Eastern Regional College (SERC) will be hosting an Adult Education Open Evening on Wednesday 8 June 2022 from 4.00pm to 7.00pm at its Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn, and Newtownards Campuses.

Heather McKee, Director of Strategic Planning, Quality and Support said, “Over 7,000 people choose SERC each year to study an adult education part-time course in a range of subjects and levels, to gain qualifications to improve their skills.

“So, if you are looking to get back into education, to get on the job ladder, to progress your career or to retrain, our Adult Education Open Evening is a step towards meeting your goals as learning never stops.

“Prospective students will be able to find out about part-time courses including further and higher education qualifications, higher level apprenticeships, access to education, professional training, and leisure courses.”

Lynne McCabe, from Dromore, returned to SERC to complete a Level 2 Award in Interior Design.   She said, “I run two guest houses, Ralph’s in Moira and Lisnacurran in Dromore, so interiors is an important part of what I do for my business.   Coming back to do the course has increased my confidence and equipped me with new skills and experience, which I am already putting to use for work on a new guest house I am currently designing called Arthur’s in Moira.”

Fellow student Noreen Kelly, from Hilltown said, “I just love to try something new, so when I heard about the Interior Design course, I thought I would like to give it a go- taking on the course was something I wanted to do for myself for my own interest.  I have learnt so much and it has been an enjoyable and challenging course.

She added, “There is a real mix of students and age groups on the course but since we are all interested in interiors, we are learning from each other and sharing ideas which has been great.   I would certainly recommend finding a course you are interested in and giving it a go to upskill or just for your own development.”

Tutors and career advisors will be on hand to explore your options on 8 June and can talk you through the application and admissions process. There will be the chance to see the state-of-the-art facilities and find out more about the College’s superb support services, pastoral care and Students’ Union.

We invite potential visitors to book a free time slot in order to reduce waiting time whilst on Campus. Only one ticket is required for multiple people to attend with you. https://www.serc.ac.uk/open-day
