A seven-week pre-employment Welding Academy commenced recently in SRC with 12 successful participants preparing to spend 5 weeks in college working towards the City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in MIG Welding integrating the use the soldering simulators in conjunction with Weld & Go.

Following this training period, the participants will spend the final two weeks of the programme at one of the local employers, Walter Watson, Agnew Engineering, NC Engineering, Hyster Yale, SFM Engineering and Total Batching Solutions.

Each of these employers are hoping to offer full time positions to the participants. This Assured Skills Programme is funded by the Department for the Economy.
