Mivan have been awarded a multi-million-pound contract to refurbish and fitout Pearl Assurance House in the centre of Belfast. Scheduled for completion this summer, this historically significant building will once again be back at the heart of city centre life.

Pearl Assurance House is a grade B+ listed building located within the core of Belfast city centre, adjacent to City Hall and falling within the Belfast City Centre Conservation Area. Construction was originally completed in 1902 using the red sandstone still seen today. Mivan will be responsible for the restoration of the historic façade, the creation of ground-floor retail units, open-plan offices, a roof terrace, and a rear extension, as well as internal finishes and specialist joinery.

The existing offices and retail units within the building are deficient and in desperate need of upgrading to meet modern day standards. The retail units will have new glazed fronts to provide greater light and improve accessibility. The offices from the first to fourth floors will be fully refurbished, while meeting rooms and break out areas on the fifth floor we will be created.

CEO of Mivan, John Cunningham added, “”This refurbishment will facilitate the regeneration of this key listed building located on a prominent corner of Donegall Square East within Belfast city centre, seeking to restore and breathe new life back into this building for many years to come.”

John continued, “I would like to have a more prominent presence in Northern Ireland’s interior landscape. This project helps us to demonstrate the level that we operate at, and it is right on our doorstep. I am confident and look forward to this leading to more projects in Northern Ireland and Ireland.”
