Ten years ago, a small group of volunteers set out to build a conference Northern Ireland’s tech community could truly call its own. A decade on, NIDC (Northern Ireland Developer Conference) has grown into one of the most important dates in our industry’s calendar, and this year Enso Recruitment is proud to be marking that milestone as we head into our fifth year at NIDC and our third as Exclusive Recruitment Sponsor.

As Managing Director of Enso Recruitment, I’ve had a front-row seat to that growth. We exhibited at NIDC for two years before being named Exclusive Recruitment Sponsor in our third, and what struck us from the very start wasn’t just the quality of the speakers or the size of the crowd. It was the spirit of NIDC.

NIDC is entirely volunteer-led, built by people who give up their own time because they believe Northern Ireland’s tech scene deserves a platform of this calibre.

That’s rare, and it’s exactly the kind of energy we wanted to be part of, working with people who are in it for the love of the game.

Why events like NIDC matter

Conferences like NIDC bring developers, engineers, founders, and hiring teams into the same room, creating space for the kind of informal, honest conversations that don’t always happen elsewhere. That’s part of what makes an event like this so valuable to the wider tech community.

That’s exactly why events like this matter to us and so many others across the tech scene here in NI. Enso’s journey with NIDC

We didn’t set out to become NIDC’s Exclusive Recruitment Sponsor overnight. It started with a stand, some tech stickers, a few prizes, and a determination to make sure anyone who stopped by actually enjoyed themselves. Two years in, we were asked to step up as Exclusive Recruitment Sponsor, and we’ve never looked back.

Being named Exclusive Recruitment Sponsor is a responsibility we don’t take lightly. NIDC’s values, community first, quality over hype, and doing things properly, are the same values we try to bring to recruitment. That alignment is why the partnership has worked so well, and why we’re delighted to be returning for our third year in the role, and on the day itself, the goal has never changed; our job is to bring some fun to a day that’s already packed with brilliant ideas.

There’s a real buzz to the day that’s hard to put into words; you have to experience it firsthand to understand why it’s become the event of the year for the NI tech community.

Ten years on

Reaching a tenth anniversary is no small feat for any event, and it’s an even bigger achievement for one that has stayed independent and volunteer-led throughout. NIDC’s growth is a genuine reflection of how far Northern Ireland’s tech industry has come. What began as a gathering for a close-knit community now attracts attendees, speakers, and sponsors from all over the world.

That says something important about the strength of what’s being built here in Northern Ireland’s tech industry, and events like NIDC are a big part of how that happens.
