Ulster Bank has supported care home operator Healthcare Ireland to further expand its care facilities in Northern Ireland. HCI has acquired seven new homes.

Ulster Bank has helped the Holywood-based company to expand significantly over the last 10 years and this latest deal will accelerate the firm’s ambitious growth plans, bringing its total number of sites to 24 and its staff numbers to over 2,000.

The new additions include seven homes across Northern Ireland: Carlingford Lodge Care Home in Warrenpoint, Bannview Care Home in Banbridge, Cairnmartin Care Home in Belfast, Bohill Residential Care Home in Coleraine, Ben Madigan Care Home in Newtownabbey, and Blair House Care Home in Newtownards. It has also purchased the learning disability facility at Bohill House Care Home in Coleraine which will be operated by Gold Healthcare, the specialist adult services division of HCI.

Lisa Allen, Relationship Director at Ulster Bank, said: “Gilbert and his team at HCI aim to provide the best possible care to their residents and over recent years they have made significant investments across their sites to create a high quality portfolio which provides a wide range of residential services. This latest investment will see the company further expand its number of sites across Northern Ireland and we are very pleased to support the business to do so.”

Gilbert Yates, chief executive Officer of HCI, said: “At Healthcare Ireland, we are focused on providing the best possible care for each and every one of our residents and the seven new homes will allow us to bring our person centered approach to more and more people. We are proud to acquire this portfolio of high-quality care facilities which will dovetail perfectly with our range of homes across Northern Ireland. We have worked closely with Ulster Bank for many years and the team at the bank have provided invaluable support to help us realise our ongoing plans for growth.”

HCI was founded by Gilbert Yates in 2015 and has grown both organically and acquisitively since then to become the biggest privately-owned care home provider in Northern Ireland. The clear focus is to continuously deliver and develop best-in-class care from specialist Gold Healthcare and Healthcare Ireland, in partnership with all Northern Ireland Trusts to facilitate individual requirements and create bespoke care packages and living environments.
