The Utility Regulator has published its latest newsletter which provides an update on its work during September.
In this edition, the organisation reflects on the opening of its new offices at Millennium House, Belfast by the Economy Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald, on Thursday 25 September.
The Utility Regulator also looks back at some of the insightful industry events and stakeholder meetings that it has engaged in this month.
On Tuesday 16 September, the organisation’s Chief Executive, John French was pleased to attend the Council of European Energy Regulators’ General Assembly meeting in Copenhagen.
On Wednesday 17 September, the Utility Regulator’s Board visited Co. Fermanagh-based manufacturer, Encirc. During the session, they were also delighted to meet with and hear from representatives from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Evolve, Vidrala and Balcas.
On Friday 19 September, the organisation held a stakeholder briefing to provide an update on regulated electricity charges, known as Regulated Entitlement Values.
Following this, on the same date, it published an annual Regulated Entitlement Values Information Paper for the 2025/2026 tariff year.
A number of the Utility Regulator’s team attended the NI Energy Summit at ICC Belfast on Wednesday 24 September.
Throughout the month, the organisation also published a number of other important documents. These include:
- 1 September – A notice and consultation on a proposed licence modification to SONI’s (System Operator for Northern Ireland) Transmission System Operator (TSO) licence, to reflect the requirement by the Department for the Economy for SONI to begin preparatory works for their designated role in the Renewable Electricity Price Guarantee (REPG) Scheme.
- 5 September – The conclusion of a review of the regulated tariffs for Power NI, SSE Airtricity Gas Supply and Firmus Energy. The changes to the regulated tariffs came into effect on 1 October 2025.
- 5 September – A consultation document setting out the Utility Regulator’s approach to its fifth price control for NI Water, referred to as PC28, which will begin on 1 April 2028.
- 10 September – The Annual Retail Energy Market Monitoring (AREMM) Report for 2024, which is the latest in a series of Utility Regulator reports that provide a range of information about the retail energy market in Northern Ireland.
- 23 September – A decision that includes the legal notices for the Provision of Information licence modifications. This decision follows an extensive consultation process.
- 30 September – The latest Quarterly Retail Energy Market Monitoring report on NI’s retail energy market.
