The Utility Regulator has published its July newsletter, which provides an update on its work over the past month.
During July, the organisation continued to progress a wide range of regulatory priorities across the energy and water sectors, alongside delivering important research, consultation and compliance activity.
The Utility Regulator also continued to engage with stakeholders as it worked to protect the interests of electricity, gas and water consumers across Northern Ireland.
This month, the organisation’s Chief Executive, John French, attended both the Indepen Forum and the Vallorii July Roundtable in London.
These events provided valuable opportunities to discuss consumer outcomes, geopolitical risk and the implications for infrastructure finance and security with stakeholders from across the sectors.
The Utility Regulator’s Head of Consumer and Business Protection, Sinéad Dynan, was featured in the ‘Meet the Member’ section of the Collaboration Network’s newsletter.
During the interview, Sinéad spoke about her career in consumer support, the issues currently facing the Utility Regulator and the importance of regulators working together on matters that affect consumers across the UK.
On 2 July, the Utility Regulator published key findings from its fourth Non-domestic Consumer Insight Tracker Survey.
On 22 July, the organisation published its decision paper on updates to the electricity Guaranteed Standards of Service (GSS) and Overall Standards of Performance (OSP).
The Utility Regulator published key findings from its sixth Domestic Consumer Insight Tracker Survey on 23 July.
The 2024/2025 Annual Report for the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) was also published this month.
In July, the Utility Regulator published a number of other important documents, including:
- A consultation on the proposed form of electricity generation licence for Synchronous Condensers (23 July).
- A consultation on the publication of a Compliance and Enforcement Annual Report (28 July).
In this edition, the organisation is spotlighting its Compliance and Enforcement Manager, Noleen Charnley and its Head of Compliance and Enforcement, Barbara Stevenson.
