The Utility Regulator has published its latest newsletter which provides an update on the organisation’s work during January.

It has been a busy month, as the Utility Regulator continues its work to protect the interests of consumers of electricity, gas and water across Northern Ireland.

This edition of the newsletter looks at the recently published draft consultation on the Utility Regulator’s 2025/2026 Forward Work Programme, which forms the business plan for the second year of its Corporate Strategy 2024-2029.

The January issue also looks at the Utility Regulator’s decision paper and approval of SONI’s Transmission Development Plan for Northern Ireland 2023-2032.

Over the past year, the organisation has met with elected representatives, contributed to roundtables, made site visits and both attended and hosted industry events.

In 2025, the Utility Regulator plans to continue engaging with its stakeholders.

The organisation is delighted to have been asked to assist Saint Helena’s Utilities Regulatory Authority with the review and development of its regulation programme.

The January edition of the newsletter looks at Electricity Networks Manager, Jody O’Boyle’s, work on this initiative.

This month’s newsletter shines a spotlight on the staff who oversee the Utility Regulator’s governance – Head of Finance and Project Management, Paula McCann, and Project Management and Quality Assurance Manager, Debbie Quinn.

The Utility Regulator would be delighted to hear any feedback you may have on its newsletter and any issues that you would like to see covered in future editions, via info@uregni.gov.uk
