Founded in 1779, the Naval & Military Bible Society (NMBS) originally supplied Bibles to the Royal Navy and British Army personnel.
Over 245 years, NMBS has grown to serve a global ministry, providing Bibles and resources for Military personnel, Cadets, and Seafarers. As a gifting society, NMBS relies on donations from individuals and organisations to fulfil its mission. Most of its resources are distributed through service chaplaincies and seafaring organisations.
Andrew Dakin, Executive Director of the Naval & Military Bible Society for six years, is a former RAF Harrier pilot with extensive combat and evaluation experience. After serving with the US Marine Corps and BAESYSTEMS providing aircrew advice, he developed technology programs to modernise Harrier jets.
Dakin, inspired by his Christian faith, now leads NMBS in distributing Bibles to military personnel. He is focused on expanding the society’s mental welfare resources, confident that the necessary support will follow.
