Major boost in choice and capacity for passengers and freight customers with the addition of a new cruise-ferry to its Ireland-France route

Irish tourists looking for a holiday in France next year received a boost today as Swedish-owned ferry company Stena Line announced it was launching a second cruise ferry on its Rosslare to Cherbourg service. Providing unrivalled comfort and choice for passengers on their busy French route in 2023, the new ship Stena Vision will mean the company will have daily departures six days a week on the shortest, quickest, and most frequent ferry service to the European Continent.

By adding Stena Vision to its Ireland-France route, Stena Line will provide a significant increase in capacity alongside its existing vessel on the route, Stena Horizon. The new vessel is due to set sail in June and brings with it space for 1,300 passengers.  With 485 passenger cabins it offers the widest selection of cabins across all of the company’s ferries with Suites, Deluxe or Superior cabins, as well as Accessible ones all on offer.

And, in welcome news for dog owners, for the first time on the route there will be 42 Pet Cabins, so passengers can cuddle, snuggle and play with their furry friends all the way to and from France.

Guests can sit back, relax and start their holiday as soon as they board this bigger and more spacious vessel. The new travel experience includes a wide choice of bars and restaurants, as well as an onboard Nordic Spa. Whether passengers are going to hit the beaches on the Riveria, chill out in Provence, or party in Paris they can arrive in comfort, style and refreshed after their cruise.

Paul Grant, Irish Sea Trade Director at Stena Line, says: “Ahead of what’s expected to be a busy summer in 2023, we will be doubling our sailing frequency and tripling our passenger capacity for tourists on our Rosslare – Cherbourg service as well significantly increasing freight capacity. We’ve seen demand for more services and bigger vessels and are happy to announce that from next June we will have daily departures and arrivals 6 days a week on the shortest and most frequent direct service between Ireland and France. We are pleased to offer more options and choice for our customers with this fantastic new addition to our Irish Sea fleet, the Stena Vision.”

Stena Vision replaces a freight only vessel on the route, meaning a 100% increase in passenger sailings for the Swedish company. Stena Line will be the only ferry operator offering departures and arrivals in both directions on the Rosslare – Cherbourg for six days every week.

The vessel is welcome news for the freight sector, which has seen increased demand for direct services to France from hauliers since Brexit. It means Stena Line now has two vessels sailing to France that can comfortably cater for demand for cabin space to accommodate truck drivers.

Stena Vision will come fresh from the Baltic Sea, where she is operating on the busy Swedish/Polish Karlskrona to Gdynia route. It will be replaced by the Stena Line’s new larger E-Flexer Stena Ebba early next year.

Commencing Friday 30th June 2023, with a choice of fares starting for as little as €289 for a car and driver, places can be secured with only a £100 deposit. Bookings can be made at stenaline.co.uk and stenaline.fr
