Share Energy has reaffirmed its commitment to the local community through a new sponsorship of Larne Grammar School’s Medallion XV rugby team. The locally owned energy provider has proudly funded brand-new playing shirts and warm-up tops, ensuring the squad is fully equipped for the season ahead and reinforcing the company’s ongoing support for grassroots sport and young talent in the area.
The sponsorship is part of Share Energy’s growing community programme, which has delivered almost 30 partnerships and sponsorships across Northern Ireland in just over a year.
According to Community Champion Ailbhe McCusker, Share’s community programme was created to deliver tangible local impact. “We feel our responsibility goes beyond customer bills, especially now that businesses and households face difficult financial decisions”.
Coach Phil Cartmill of Larne Grammar’s Medallion XV said the support had made a significant difference to the team: “Share Energy’s support has been hugely beneficial for the Medallion XV this year. It allowed us to invest in kit for the boys, which has brought real sense of identity within the team.
“One of the points of difference of working with Share Energy this year has been their genuine interest in the school and the outcome of our pupils. They’ve been out to watch games and taken the time to speak with coaches and players, and that’s been very much appreciated.”
Ailbhe continued: “By supporting local teams, Share aims to strengthen community visibility, improve resources and help young people develop confidence, teamwork and resilience. We’re proud to support Larne Grammar’s Medallion XV and to play a small part in their journey.”
While grassroots sport remains a central pillar of that approach, the energy provider also supports community hubs and charities providing essential services, such as food banks and hospices across the Province. Share also sponsors local runs, marathons and events that encourage health and wellbeing and bring communities together.
