The annual tournament welcomed teams from across Northern Ireland for one of the country’s biggest grassroots football events
Share Energy was proud to support the hugely successful Cross Community Cup last weekend as hundreds of young footballers and their families gathered at the Lough Moss Centre in Carryduff for one of Northern Ireland’s biggest grassroots football tournaments.
Hosted by Carryduff Colts, the annual tournament welcomed teams from across Northern Ireland for a fantastic celebration of sport, teamwork and community spirit. Over the weekend, boys and girls aged 5-11 took part in league games and competitions, with thousands of supporters cheering on the young players.
Ailbhe McCusker, Community Champion at Share Energy, said:
“We are proud to support the Carryduff Colts U16 girls’ team. Events like the Cross Community Cup showcase the very best of grassroots sport. It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying the game, making memories and representing their clubs with pride.
“At Share Energy, supporting local communities is hugely important to us. We’re committed to backing grassroots initiatives that make a real difference to young people and families across Northern Ireland, and we’re proud to support clubs like Carryduff Colts that play such a positive role in their local community.”
The Cross Community Cup has become one of the largest and most popular youth football events in Northern Ireland, attracting more than 4,000 players, coaches, parents and supporters in previous years.
Jake McKeown, Chair at Carryduff Colts, added:
“The Cross Community Cup is an annual highlight in the youth football sporting calendar in NI and continues to grow year on year. The approximately 4,000 people who took part or attended over the weekend played their part to create an incredible atmosphere.
“We’re hugely grateful to the coaches and volunteers for coming together to create such a memorable experience for the children. Thanks, finally, to all the tournament sponsors and all the companies that support our club throughout the season, including our friends at Share Energy. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
The weekend also featured BBQs, refreshments, trophies and entertainment for families, creating a festival atmosphere both on and off the pitch.
