Classroom Assistants from across Northern Ireland celebrated achieving teaching and learning qualifications at UNISON Head Office recently.

South Eastern Regional College (SERC) secured a contract from UNISON to deliver the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification to Classroom Assistants employed in schools throughout Northern Ireland.   Teaching was delivered online and face to face.

Forty-six participants have successfully achieved their qualifications. Marianne Buick, UNISON Learning and Development Organiser, stated, “This has been a fantastic opportunity for our members to gain their qualifications through the collaborative efforts of UNISON and SERC. We look forward to offering the same opportunity again starting in September 2025.”

Marie McAlinden, Curriculum Manager at SERC said, “We were delighted to deliver this training to participants from across Northern Ireland.  The Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning is a much sought after qualification which enhances Classroom Assistants knowledge and skills as part of their ongoing professional development.”
