Mallon is delighted to announce our first carbon footprint reduction in our 2023 Carbon report.  We are committed to environmental transparency, and this report details our progress towards Net Zero.

2023 is the third year we have reported on our carbon footprint and is the first year we have seen a reduction in our carbon emissions below our baseline year of 2021!

Our 2023 Results in Full

For 2023, our carbon footprint totalled 166,847.588 KgCO2e.  In context, this is equivalent to 489 round plane trips from London to Barcelona, 37 petrol cars driven for 1 year or 21 homes powered for a full year.

This represents a drop of 4.15% in our emissions, or a total of 7,078.412 kgCO2e, compared to our baseline of 2021.  While only a small drop in emissions, this represents a positive change that we are celebrating on our Net Zero journey.

Our positive actions from previous years, including replacing all our lighting with LED bulbs, installing solar panels, acquiring a company EV, and installing batteries for our Cookstown office, are all starting to have an impact. Since 2021, we have successfully reduced our carbon emissions arising from energy usage by 8.31%.

We have also seen further reductions in other areas, including a 26.86% decrease in transport emissions from the previous year and a 5.66% reduction in emissions from the products and services we purchase compared with our baseline year.

What’s next on our Net Zero Journey?

We are delighted to announce our first–ever emissions reduction against our baseline year, but we are fully aware that this is just the start of the journey.  Much more work needs to be done for us to achieve our goals.  We aim to be as transparent as possible in this process and also to set a leading example in the geospatial industry.

Over the course of this year, we will be delving further into our 2023 results to identify further areas we can target to drive down our carbon footprint.  We will continue to report on our footprint every year as we work towards a Net Zero future.
