Charis Cancer Care, a leading organisation providing essential emotional and psychological support for those impacted by cancer, is celebrating the extraordinary fundraising efforts of the team from P McVey Building Systems.
The team at P McVey Building Systems took on a remarkable challenge to raise funds for Charis Cancer Care and The Olive Branch, two local charities. Charis Cancer Care based outside Cookstown operates an award-winning centre overlooking the stunning Lough Fea and offers critical services that make a difference to those facing cancer in Northern Ireland.
The 51-member team at P McVey Building Systems wanted to go above and beyond to raise funds for these deserving charities. Known for their competitive spirit, they set themselves a goal to make the challenge as special as possible while contributing to the vital work of two local charities Charis Cancer Care and The Olive Branch.
Thus, the McVey’s Riders and Striders 100-Hour Challenge was born. From 8am on Monday 16th December, to 12 noon on Friday 20th December, the team took on the extraordinary feat of cycling and walking around the clock, for an entire 100 hours. To make the challenge even more gruelling, the team completed their challenge in winter conditions outside their headquarters at Creagh Business Park.
The event was met with great enthusiasm, with the team being cheered on and sponsored by family, friends, and business contacts, all of whom helped push the effort to new heights.
Pat McVey, Managing Director of P McVey Building Systems, commented:
“As a company, we have always been committed to supporting our local community, and we are incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our team. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of everyone involved, we are thrilled to be able to donate £7500 to each of these amazing charities. The difference they make to local people’s lives is immeasurable, and we are honoured to have played a part in their continued success.”
Arlene McEvoy from Charis expressed her gratitude for the team’s dedication to making a difference to local charities in the area
“We are so thankful to the team at P McVey Building Systems. As a small charity which relies heaving on business support to continue our much-needed services, we truly appreciate the effort the team has undertaken to raise money for Charis and The Olive Branch. Thank you for making a difference to local people in Northern Ireland impacted by cancer.
