South Eastern Regional College (SERC) has won the Net Zero Carbon Award Category at the Business and Finance Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Awards 2026.

In partnership with Grant Thornton, the Awards recognise organisations that are actively working to address and progress ESG priorities, highlight the achievements of ESG initiatives, showcase examples of best practice, and emphasise the importance of transparency in this area.

SERC won the Net Zero Carbon Award, which recognises organisations that have set and are actively pursuing realistic and impactful targets to achieve net zero carbon emissions. The college won the award for several initiatives including the establishment of a new retrofit training suite, the introduction of Northern Ireland’s first green technology training qualifications, the training of community champions to promote sustainability, and the integration of green principles into curriculum development across all courses.

SERC’s  Lead Business Skills Manager, Stephen McGreevy comments, “We are absolutely delighted with our success in winning first place in the ESG Net Carbon Zero Award category in Dublin recently. This win reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire Business Support team and shows their foresight to develop teaching and learning strategies within the Net Zero space to advance the Net Zero agenda.

“This Award is even more satisfying as it is an all Island of Ireland award, and it comes after our success in taking second place in the UK Net Zero National Awards (September 2025), marking the academic year 2025-26 as a special milestone year for the SERC Business Support team.”
