The Millennium Forum today welcomed he Community Foundation for Northern Ireland through the Kingsbridge Foundation as the new funder of its award-winning ‘Moves & Melodies’ project.    The new partnership will assist with the delivery and development of this much needed age and dementia friendly event whilst raising awareness of related health issues and the facilities available for patients and their families.

In keeping with its commitment to providing an all-inclusive experience for all, the Millennium Forum’s popular ‘Moves & Melodies’ offers older patrons the opportunity to dance, reminisce and sing.  This exciting twelve month project continues throughout the year on a monthly basis and features an afternoon of song and dance facilitated by Fiona Logue, Claire Harkin and Emma Lindsay who each bring their wealth of expertise in music and dance to over fifty participants each month.

Speaking on the new corporate partnership, Cara McCartney, Development & Creative Engagement Manager at the Millennium Forum, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Kingsbridge Foundation as sponsors of our incredible ‘Moves & Melodies’ project.  As part of the continuing development of our accessible performances at the Millennium Forum, we are working incredibly hard to ensure that our venue is fully accessible to all our patrons, and we greatly recognise the importance of removing barriers for people living with disabilities.  We know that Kingsbridge Healthcare shares our mission and the work that they do aligns with our commitment to deliver the highest level of accessible events and facilities for everyone. We couldn’t achieve this without the help of our Access sponsors and funding partners Specsavers, Nicor, Kingsbridge Foundation, National Lottery, the Arts Council NI and AAA.”

Martin Shields, Medical Director at KHG and Chair of the Kingsbridge Foundation, added:

“We are delighted to be supporting the Millenium Forum’s Moves & Melodies Initiative. We understand that for many of us, our parents or grandparents need that little bit of extra support and Moves & Melodies does exactly that in such a positive way to help relieve social isolation as well as improve physical and mental wellbeing in a safe space. The Kingsbridge Foundation committee and employees from across the Kingsbridge Healthcare Group are proud to be involved in this project.”
