Olympia London has been hosting major events since 1886. It’s one of the capital’s most iconic venues – but it’s been positioned as an exhibition hall for most of its life.
The £1.3bn redevelopment changes that fundamentally. Olympia isn’t becoming a better exhibition venue. It’s becoming a destination. A place where people work, stay, eat, and get entertained without leaving the site.
That shift in how venues operate has happened quietly across London and major cities over the last decade. It’s not about the building anymore – it’s about the ecosystem around it. Conference delegates want hotels connected. Event attendees want restaurants and bars on-site. Workers want collaborative spaces alongside offices.
Olympia’s redevelopment is banking on that evolution. Sadiq Khan officially opened the complex this week, calling the £1.3 billion transformation “one of the most spectacular regeneration schemes London has ever seen”.
Multiple areas have opened on 15th June with 2.5 acres of pedestrian areas and a wide range of restaurants and bars making the venue is now live.
McCue is delivering the interior fit-out that makes this ecosystem work. The Live Lounge – full hospitality fit-out with specialist bar installations and bespoke joinery. Level 1’s auditorium and seminar facilities, including tiered seating and integrated AV systems. Level 2’s conference centre with meeting rooms and networking spaces designed for modern event organisers.
The work is currently on-site, progressing toward completion in the coming months.
