Elemente, the Latin American restaurant at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, has been named a winner at the 2026 International Design & Architecture Awards, hosted by design et al in London on 11 September.

The design is by Robert Angell Design International. The fit-out was delivered by McCue.

Congratulations to Robert Angell’s team, Rhubarb Hospitality Collection and URW. Design awards rightly go to the designers. But a design only wins if it is built the way it was drawn, and we’re proud of our part in getting it there.

The project at a glance

  • Location: First floor of the Lee building, on the waterfront promenade at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, HafenCity
  • Size: Over 1,300 m² of all-day restaurant, bar and terrace
  • Client: URW (Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield)
  • Operator: Rhubarb Hospitality Collection
  • Designer: Robert Angell Design International
  • McCue’s role: Main contractor, delivering the full end-to-end interior fit-out
  • Bespoke joinery: Manufactured at our workshop in Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim
  • Opened: 30 April 2026

A concept built on four elements

Elemente draws on a piece of Hamburg history. In 1827, the city became the first in Europe to recognise the independence of South American states. The restaurant extends that connection across the whole of Latin America.

The interior is built around fire, water, earth and air. Organic materials meet clean, disciplined lines, and the same idea runs from the architecture through to the menu and the bar.

Hamburg adds to a growing European portfolio for McCue. Recent work includes Urban Outfitters flagships on the Champs-Élysées in Paris and in Madrid, Lille and Hamburg, alongside Anthropologie at Coal Drops Yard in London.

Each one tells the same story. Clients choose a Carrickfergus contractor for international work because the quality, programme and cost certainty hold up wherever the job is.
