An exclusive evening celebrating the connection between fine art, wine and gastronomy will take place at Lough Erne Resort on Friday 12 June from 7pm to 9pm, as acclaimed contemporary artist Mark Burrell hosts a unique immersive “Wine & Art” experience.

Presented by Hambly & Hambly, the event comes as Burrell currently exhibits five striking artworks at the Resort, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience the paintings in an entirely new and engaging way through specially selected wine pairings and curated culinary accompaniments.

Internationally recognised both as an artist and wine enthusiast – a grade four sommelier – Burrell has personally paired wines from Lough Erne Resort’s award-winning wine list to reflect the character, mood and composition of each artwork.

Throughout the evening, guests will be guided through an interactive tasting experience exploring the parallels between visual art and taste, texture, balance and emotion.

The event will also feature a bespoke canapé menu created by Lough Erne Resort’s Head Chef, carefully designed to complement both the wines and the paintings, creating a fully immersive sensory experience.

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1965, Mark Burrell studied Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic before completing a Masters Degree in Fine Art at the Norwich School of Art and Design. Now based on the east coast of Kent, he has exhibited extensively throughout London and internationally, with works held in notable private collections including the Tim Sayer Collection.

Burrell’s artistic practice is rooted in an exploration of the human condition and the relationship between the individual and the wider world. Combining abstraction and representation, his paintings often incorporate layered textures and found materials to create tactile surfaces rich in memory, emotion and meaning.

Speaking about his work, Burrell said: “Through my work I have sought to explore the human condition, the complexities of existence, and the relationship between the individual and the world. I hope my art speaks of existential questions, the fragility of human existence, and the search for meaning amidst the chaos of life.”

Ciara Hambly of Hambly & Hambly said the evening promises to be a memorable cultural experience unlike anything else currently taking place locally. “Mark’s ability to connect art, storytelling, wine and atmosphere creates a truly original event. Guests will not simply observe the paintings, but experience them through flavour, conversation and sensory discovery, making for a very special and immersive evening.”

With numbers strictly limited to 40 guests, early booking is highly recommended.

Tickets are priced at £45 per person and include five glasses of wine paired with canapés.

Lough Erne Resort is also offering exclusive overnight accommodation rates for guests attending the event.
