The 2025 UK’s Best Workplaces in Retail, Hospitality & Leisure™ list was launched on 10th September by Great Place To Work® UK, recognising Lunn’s the Jewellers among the list of organisations in the small/medium category.

Colleagues have anonymously reported that they love the family business culture, the service we provide our clients and the involvement we have with the local community. Colleagues want to stay and progress within the company as a result of working for a truly great workplace and this has been evident with 19 internal promotions over the last 2 years, ensuring home-grown talent remains at the forefront for the company.

The company supports local with colleagues at all levels getting involved in charity fundraising, whether it is  volunteering time, a Twilight Trek at Cavehill, The Belfast City Marathon Relay team involvement, Fire Walks, a Lunn’s Great Bake Off Competition or a Half Iron Man, colleagues continually get involved.  To date 2025 charity fundraising sits at over £6k with other planned fundraising and volunteering planned for the remainder of the year.

In the last 24 months alone, they have launched their formalised company values, celebrate monthly colleagues who go above and beyond in living company values and hosted the first celebration evening focusing on celebrating people and teams.  In addition, they have increased their focus on Health & Wellbeing working in partnership with Action Mental Health to launch the Wellbeing Hub at the start of the year to support their colleagues now and in the future. They have introduced numerous policies to support work life balance including enhanced family friendly policies, hybrid working, menopause, mental health and work life balance policies to name a few, and they haven’t stopped there as they continue to review, assess and launch further policies to support their colleagues.

Great Place To Work® UK administered their research-backed Trust Index© employee survey and analysed the responses of UK-based retail, hospitality and leisure employees to determine the Best Workplaces in Retail, Hospitality & Leisure™ list.  The surveys asked employees to comment on how their company supports their work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety and financial security. Evaluations also included an assessment of how well the organisation was able to deliver consistency of their employee experience across all departments and seniority levels.

Analysis of the sector employee survey responses found:
75% of employees at the UK’s Best Workplaces for Retail, Hospitality & Leisure™ say “I want to work here for a long time” compared to 56% at a typical company in this sector.
Heather White, Head of HR of Lunn’s the Jewellers said:

“After being certified for a second  consecutive year as a Great Place to Work in August, this was a really proud moment for us to be further recognised on The 2025 UK’s Best Workplaces in Retail, Hospitality & Leisure™   In retail, where work is fast paced it can be tough to keep the family business culture alive. We, however, have nurtured this over the years really ensuring that it is a bottom up approach to culture were colleagues have their say in what matters to them.”
