The Utility Regulator has published its latest newsletter, which provides an update on its work during April.
In addition to its daily activities, this month the Utility Regulator has been engaging with its stakeholders by participating in speaking engagements and hosting stakeholder meetings. The organisation also co-hosted an industry forum.
On Tuesday 8 April, the Utility Regulator’s Chief Executive, John French, delivered an overview of utility regulation for a net zero future to delegates attending the Northern Ireland Environment Forum 2025.
On Thursday 10 April, the Utility Regulator’s Board Members were delighted to host the Board of the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland at its office in Queens House.
The Utility Regulator co-hosted an industry forum in Dundalk on Friday 11 April with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities, SONI and Eirgrid on a proposed Single Electricity Market Multi-Year Markets Plan.
Also in April, it hosted a stakeholder meeting, during which SONI provided an update on its Annual Performance Report 2023/2024.
This month, the organisation published its Decision on proposed modifications to high pressure gas conveyance licences.
The Utility Regulator also published its Final Determination for Power NI’s Price Control for 2026-2029 and a consultation on proposed licence modifications.
These modifications will give effect to the decisions made in the Final Determination.
In April, the organisation approved the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) Schemes for 2025-2026, which have been published.
It also published responses submitted by stakeholders on SONI’s Performance for 2023/2024.
The Utility Regulator’s decision paper on the introduction of licence modifications regarding digitalisation to NIE Networks’ Transmission and Distribution and SONI’s electricity licenses was published this month.
Further to this, licence modifications which introduced mandatory customer service measures into all domestic supply licences came into effect on 24 April.
On the same date, the organisation granted a new electricity supply licence to Erova Energy Limited.
This edition of the Utility Regulator’s monthly newsletter spotlights some of the staff who produced the recently published Power NI Final Determination and consultation on proposed licence modifications.
