Leading construction firm Henry Brothers recently hosted construction students from South West College’s Dungannon Campus for an educational visit to two major Northern Irish infrastructure projects.
The students travelled to the new Driver Vehicle Agency (DVA) Test Centre in Mallusk and the Queens University Belfast-led Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre, both of which are currently being delivered by Henry Brothers.
The visit offered students a unique opportunity to see first-hand the scale, complexity and innovation involved in the projects.
These visits are part of Henry Brother’s ongoing partnerships with local colleges, including South West College, aimed at nurturing the next generation of construction professionals.
Ian Henry, CR Director of Henry Brothers, commented:
“By facilitating visits such as these, we are supporting the future of construction by giving students hands-on exposure to real-world projects.
“Our collaboration with South West College and institutions such as Queen’s University and DVA reflects our ethos that strong partnerships are essential to building both great infrastructure and meaningful careers.”
Richard Dougan, Course Director in High Level Apprenticeship in Construction Engineering with Surveying from South West College, added:
“This visit was an invaluable experience for our students. Henry Brothers has built a reputation through its involvement in major projects across the UK. Seeing the innovation and expertise involved in these buildings first-hand reinforces what they are learning in the classroom and inspires them to aim high in their future careers.
“We are grateful to Henry Brothers for its continued support and commitment to education.”
The new Driver Vehicle Agency (DVA) Test Centre in Mallusk will feature a ten-lane vehicle testing area that will help meet growing demand and enhance the DVA’s public service capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Queen’s University Belfast-led Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre is set to become a cornerstone of Northern Ireland’s manufacturing future, an open-access hub providing state-of-the-art facilities, expert engineering support, and academic collaboration.
Henry Brothers’ leadership in these significant builds, combined with its commitment to education and community investments underscores the company’s role in shaping both the physical and professional landscape of Northern Ireland. For more information, visit henrybrothers.co.uk/
