Belfast’s only IRATA-accredited rope access training provider, Dangle Academy, has completed its first week of training — welcoming a diverse group of local participants from sectors including scaffolding and film production.
The trainees, some of whom joined through NI Screen, spent five days completing intensive practical and theoretical learning under the globally recognised IRATA Level 1 syllabus. The qualification equips participants with the technical competence to work safely at height across industries such as construction, renewables, maintenance, and creative production.
“It’s been incredible to see such a range of industries represented in our first intake,” said Simon Dunn, Director of Dangle Academy. “Whether you’re on a film set or a fabrication site, rope access training opens new opportunities — and bringing this level of qualification to Belfast means those opportunities are now within reach locally.”
The launch of Dangle Academy’s purpose-built rope access facility in Belfast earlier this year marked an important step in strengthening training provision across Northern Ireland. By increasing access to accredited IRATA Rope Access courses within the city, Dangle Academy is expanding opportunities for local technicians and employers to gain world-class industrial qualifications without the need to travel further afield.
By providing internationally recognised qualifications close to home, Dangle Academy aims to support workforce growth, enhance safety standards, and reduce the need for travel to Great Britain for specialist certification.
From scaffolders diversifying their skill sets to professionals in Northern Ireland’s thriving creative and industrial sectors exploring new technical disciplines, Dangle Academy is helping to build a stronger, more versatile local workforce equipped for the demands of modern industry.
