Northern Irelands biggest taxi company fonaCAB, has teamed up with Northern Ireland’s only dedicated HIV charity, Positive Life to help eradicate HIV related stigma in Northern Ireland.

This comes at a time when Positive Life is launching a new £500k sustainability project called the ‘Northern Ireland Buyers Club’. The Club is membership based and aims to bring together organisations and like-minded philanthropic individuals to work with Positive Life, and support for growth over the five years of the project.

Through the creation of a Driver sponsorship and donation fund during its 60th year, fonaCAB were delighted to have made a financial contribution to Positive Life and donate a genuine Belfast Giants Elite League and Challenge Cup winning jersey worn and signed by Giants player Andrew Dickson. This is currently being raffled by Positive Life.

It is expected that the ‘NI Buyers Club’ will target the challenges of HIV related stigma through increased awareness and education, funding research and supporting new projects to meet the changing needs of Positive Life service users.

The winner of the jersey will be announced at the Launch of the Northern Ireland Buyers Club on Wednesday 4 May at an event at the Europa Hotel hosted by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Kate Nicholl.

Managing Director of fonaCAB, William McCausland said:

“We are excited to be involved with the exciting and innovative work Positive Life is doing to eradicate HIV related stigma in Northern Ireland. It is our hope that our contribution will be one of many that will help the organisation increase awareness and education though new research and supporting projects.”

“As the proud sponsors of Belfast Giants, we were delighted to donate an iconic signed jersey to Positive Life. There is no doubt that this piece of framed memorabilia will make a fantastic addition to someone’s living or working space. If you want to get your name into the hat, simply make a donation via the Positive Life website.”

Jacquie Richardson, Chief Executive of Positive Life said:

“We are thrilled to have received these generous donations from fonaCAB to support the work of Positive Life.”

“Talking about HIV is one of the hardest conversations in Northern Ireland, and that makes it a hard ask to secure corporate support. Having a household name involved makes such a difference to the conversation. That’s why fonaCAB’s recent contribution is so special.”

“This kind of public support is so important to breaking down stigma and sends a very positive message to the people who use our services. We would like to extend our thanks to the drivers and management of fonaCAB and look forward to a long and happy working relationship.”
