Aims to reduce water use by 20% by 2030 (from 2022 baseline).
Previously used over 6.6 million litres/year on urinal flushing alone.
Challenge:13 urinals across 4 sites flushed every 4 minutes, 24/7.
Concerns: odour, urine crystallisation, and ongoing maintenance.
Solution: Partnered with NI Washrooms to install URIFRESH waterless urinals.
Install involved:
- Replacing pipework.
- Cleaning existing urinals.
- Installing odour-blocking, non-return valves.
- Using microbial cartridges to prevent salt build-up.
- Training hygiene staff.
Results:
£26,252 in annual water savings.
Annual CO2e reduction of over 2250kg.
No odour or blockage issues reported 3 quarters in.
