Express Merchants Wins Green Operational Excellence Award for Sustainable Procurement Innovation

Portadown-based technology company recognised for transforming sustainability across facilities management supply chains

Express Merchants Ltd has been named the winner of the Green Operational Excellence Award 2026, recognising the company’s innovative Breeze procurement platform and its contribution to making facilities management procurement more sustainable across the UK and Ireland.

The award celebrates organisations that demonstrate measurable environmental improvements through operational excellence, with judges recognising Breeze’s ability to reduce unnecessary travel, improve procurement efficiency and embed sustainability directly into everyday purchasing decisions. The award follows the company’s submission highlighting its measurable environmental impact and sustainable operating model.

The award was collected on behalf of the company by Tim Jameson, Managing Director of Express Merchants, alongside Joe Jameson, Operations and Finance Support.

Founded in Portadown in 2017, Express Merchants developed Breeze to solve a longstanding challenge within facilities management procurement. Rather than forcing engineers to travel to large national suppliers, the platform connects enterprise organisations with thousands of trusted local suppliers through one compliant digital procurement network.

Today, Breeze supports major facilities management organisations, helping engineers source materials closer to the job while maintaining full procurement governance and compliance. The platform has processed tens of thousands of digital orders and continues to grow rapidly across the UK and Ireland.

By encouraging local sourcing and reducing unnecessary travel, Breeze has demonstrated significant environmental benefits while also improving operational efficiency. The platform’s proprietary Green Breeze accreditation also encourages suppliers to improve their own sustainability credentials, helping create a greener supply chain rather than simply measuring emissions after they occur.

Tim Jameson, Managing Director of Express Merchants, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to receive the Green Operational Excellence Award. Sustainability shouldn’t be something organisations think about after a purchase has been made—it should be built into the decision-making process from the very beginning.

Breeze was designed to make the most sustainable procurement decision the easiest one to make. By connecting engineers with trusted local suppliers, we’re reducing unnecessary travel, supporting local businesses and helping our clients improve both operational performance and environmental outcomes.

To see that vision recognised with a national award is fantastic for our whole team.”

The award adds to a growing list of national and international recognition for Express Merchants, including the King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation 2026, and several technology and sustainability accolades.

With more than 10,000 supplier locations across the UK and Ireland now connected to Breeze, the company is preparing for its next stage of growth through expansion into the BENELUX region, bringing the same sustainable procurement model to mainland Europe.

Joe Jameson, who joined Tim in collecting the award, said:

“It’s brilliant to be part of a business that’s making such a positive impact. Winning this award recognises all the hard work the team has put into developing Breeze and supporting our clients every day.”

As Express Merchants continues to grow, the company remains focused on proving that sustainability, innovation and commercial success can work hand in hand, creating better outcomes for clients, suppliers and the environment alike.
