Celebrating Helen McGarry’s Promotion to Associate Engineer and Sustainability Lead!
We’re absolutely delighted to announce the promotion of Helen McGarry to Associate Engineer and Sustainability Lead at Design ID!
This role reflects her commitment to environmental leadership and technical excellence. Since joining Design ID, Helen has championed sustainability across our projects, embedding it not as an add-on, but as a core design principle.
This new role combines leadership in sustainability across the practice and support for clients in achieving their goals, with continued responsibility for delivering engineering projects and leading project teams.
Helen has extensive experience in delivering low-carbon innovation consultancy to major infrastructure clients, with a particular focus on the urgent decarbonisation of the concrete industry. She co-authored the ‘Concrete’ chapter in Materials: An Environmental Primer (RIBA Books, 2024).
Helen champions Design ID’s approach to engineering and sustainability: “There is value in what’s already there – it just needs to be unlocked.” That value might lie in cost, carbon, biodiversity, material, or social potential.
