Local tarpaulin manufacturer, Cunningham Covers, has turned pedal power into purpose with the success of their annual Spin-a-thon. The event saw the Cunningham team cycle 364 miles in aid of The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity at the Royal Hospital in Belfast.
The inspiration behind this year’s effort was a local 2-year-old child diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer affecting only around 30 children each year in the UK. The charity supports children and young people living with cancer and complex blood disorders, alongside their families and the medical teams who provide specialised care.
Thanks to determined pedalling and generous community support, the team raised an outstanding £5,474. Every penny will go directly to the charity, which relies entirely on public donations to fund its vital work.
“We’re thrilled to have exceeded both our distance and fundraising goals,” said a Cunningham Covers spokesperson. “The money raised will make a real difference to all the children affected, their families, and the dedicated medical teams who care for them.”
