It’s time to raise bail or stay behind bars! Local corporate teams are getting locked up overnight in the historic Crumlin Road Gaol for a Jailbreak fundraising challenge like no other — in aid of an incredible cause.
Guilty of various serious crimes like overuse of buzzwords and bringing in “healthy” cakes no one wanted, participants will be thrown in the slammer and challenged to raise £2,000 in bail money to secure their release by sunrise. From creative fundraising stunts to calling in favours from colleagues, clients, and friends, our corporate criminals will need every trick in the book to hit their target and break free.
Participants will be don the famous stripped prison uniform, capture their mugshot and be placed in real cell blocks overnight in the notorious Victorian-era gaol. The charges might be light-hearted, but the impact is powerful.
“This is fundraising with a twist and a little bit of mischief” said Eoin Caughey, Community Fundraising Officer at Cancer Focus Northern Ireland. “It’s the perfect mix of fun, challenge, and community spirit. It’s an important year for our charity as we recently opened the doors to our first Therapeutic Cancer Support Centre in Enniskillen, bringing cancer care into the community. Every year, we need to raise £4.6 million pounds to continue to deliver our vital cancer support services and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the support from our corporate community. The idea of spending a night in Crumlin Road Gaol is daunting, so we’re very grateful to the companies and individuals who are stepping forward to take part.”
Cancer Focus NI is calling on local businesses to sign up, sponsor the event, or donate to the participating teams as they take on the escape of a lifetime. You can register online at www.cancerfocusni.org/jail-break or get in touch with Cancer Focus Northern Ireland for more information.
